Exploring different relationship models

Exploring Different Relationship Models

We all have our own model or idea of what the perfect relationship looks like. Some of us want to be in a happy partnership, others prefer to stay single, and some strive for something in between. In today’s increasingly diverse world, more and more people are exploring different relationship models.

Monogamous Relationships

The traditional model of a relationship is monogamy, in which two people agree to be faithful and loyal to each other. This model is seen as the ideal or ‘normal’ setting for a relationship in many cultures, but it is by no means the only option.

Committed Non-Monogamous Relationships

In a committed non-monogamous relationship, partners have agreed upon a more open relationship. This type of relationship allows for some level of sexual or romantic involvement outside of their primary relationship. It should be noted that these types of relationships require an enormous amount of trust, communication and understanding between the involved partners.

Polyamorous Relationships

A polyamorous relationship is one in which partners are not just in a sexual and/or romantic relationship with one another, but with multiple partners. This type of relationship requires even more communication, trust and understanding than non-monogamous relationships.

Open Relationships

Open relationships are similar to non-monogamous relationships in that partners can engage in sexual or romantic encounters with people outside of the relationship. In an open relationship, however, there is no agreement or understanding between partners. Partners may or may not tell their partners about their encounters, as in an open relationship there are no set rules.

Other Options

There are other relationship models that exist, such as celibacy, swingers, various kinds of threesomes or multiples, or asexual partners. These are just a few of the many different types of relationship models that are out there for people to explore.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that everyone finds the type of relationship that works best for them. Exploring different relationship models is a great way to find what feels right for you and your partner(s).

Remember to always communicate openly and honestly with your partner(s) about any changes you are considering. Be sure to discuss any concerns or doubts that you or your partner(s) may have about venturing into a new type of relationship.
